About Julius La Rosa
After finishing high school, Julius La Rosa joined the U.S. Navy, singing in a Naval band in Washington, D.C., where he was eventually discovered by broadcaster Arthur Godfrey. In November 1951, a week after leaving the Navy, he was appearing on Godfrey's television show, remaining with him for two years. He also began making records for Cadence Records, a company formed by Godfrey's orchestra leader, Archie Bleyer. His first release, "Anywhere I Wander," went straight into the national Top 30, and was followed by a string of hits, including "Eh, Cumpari," "Suddenly There’s a Valley," "Lipstick and Candy and Rubbersole Shoes," and "Torero." La Rosa subsequently enjoyed a successful acting career in theater and television, earning an Emmy nomination for his role in Another World. ~ Rovi Staff
