About Ghosts
UK indie pop band from London comprising Simon Pettigrew (vocals/guitar), Jonny Harris (drums), Robbie Smith (bass/keyboards) and Mark Treasure (keyboards). Pettigrew, Harris and Treasure met while attending school in Cranleigh, Surrey, and began performing at the start of the new millennium under their original name of Polanski, with Andy Zuk completing the line-up. They released the vinyl singles ‘All Possibility’ in 2001, ‘Bite The Bullet’/’My Dear’ in 2002 and ‘Hate This Music’ in 2004, with a slight line-up shift seeing the introduction of Smith and the departure of Zuk. They changed their name when they signed a major label contract with Atlantic Records. Pursuing a melodic indie pop direction similar to soft rock revivalists the Feeling, the quartet gained significant radio play at the start of 2007 with the jaunty single ‘Stay The Night’. Their album debut, The World Is Outside, offered up more of the same, and while the results were never less than pleasant there was a distinct lack of originality on offer.
