About Eniac

Only a sprinkling of German house producers has been able to make any sort of an impact on the U.S. dance scene. One of them, however, has certainly been Eniac, occasionally also known as Electronic Maniac. Though based in the picturesque city of Munich for much of his career, he originally hails from the former Cold War state of East Germany, which has also produced the likes of Paul van Dyk and Kai Paul. Eniac was recruited by Munich's famous Kosmo Records as a mere 17-year-old, and quickly went on to remix and produce a plethora of highly successful tunes for the famous label. He has worked with all the big names at Kosmo, including Niels van Gogh and DJ Tomcraft, but is easily best-known for his collaboration with Tom Novy. The duo, performing as Novy vs. Eniac, shook up the dance scene in 1997 with their ultra-funky debut single "Superstar." Kosmo management couldn't have hoped for anything better; the tune was a massive club hit and sold like crazy in many countries around the world, including the U.S. Novy vs. Eniac's next big thing was the infectious house track "Someday, Somehow," which they released in 1998. A club hit and chart topper in Germany, it featured the vocals of Munich DJ Virginia Hogl. Since then, Eniac has had a hand in and/or appeared on a whole series of popular compilation albums, such as Clubber's Guide to Ibiza 2000, Sasha's Global Underground: San Francisco, and Gatecrasher. ~ David Peter Wesolowski
