Questing cosmic pop that turns funk, Eighties house and new wave into one off-kilter extravaganza may sound, on the face of it, like a possible overload of jostling ideas. Thankfully, self-styled “now age” sisters Taraka and Limai Larson are masters of sonic plate-spinning. Written on an Estonian island, this fourth full-length record finds room for synth-borne chant alongs (“Xtreme Now Energy”) and disco workouts (“Bahia”) that wear their melodic genius lightly. What’s more, rocky closer “Shitopia” is as brilliantly understated as it is inaccurately named.
