Versus Essentials

Sprouting from the remnants of Flower, Versus were formed in New York City in 1990 by vocalist/guitarist Fontaine Toups and notable indie rock brothers Ed and Richard Baluyut. Quickly becoming one of the decade's most critically acclaimed under-the-radar bands, they released five albums and a handful of EPs filled with sharp, serene, shimmering minor-chord melodies and blank-generation lyrics before going on hiatus in 2001. Returning with On the Ones and Threes in 2010, Versus have since embraced a more active touring schedule, with new member Margaret White on violin and keyboard.
