Top Songs of 2023: Australia

Apple Music’s end-of-year charts are based on plays between 1 November 2022 and 31 October 2023. We’re hereby declaring 2023 the year of Miley Cyrus for Australian listeners: “Flowers” has been a steady presence atop local charts since it was first released in January, with no signs of slowing down. The buck doesn’t stop with pop, though: Country music has been giving other genres a run for their money as it continues racing up the charts, led by huge tracks like Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” and Luke Combs’ “Fast Car”. And then there’s SZA’s “Kill Bill” and “Boy’s a liar, Pt. 2” from PinkPantheress and Ice Spice, both viral earworms that took Australia by storm. When it comes to local listens, 2023 was a year of sweet, comforting nostalgia. Chart-topping hits from previous years are just as popular now as they were when they first came out, including The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “STAY”, Tones And I’s “Dance Monkey” and Vance Joy’s 2013 smash “Riptide”.
