The Riot Grrrl movement kicked off in the early ‘90s, but it didn't come from nowhere. Since the ‘70s, women had become more prominent in rock, with singers like The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde and Heart's Wilson sisters showing the world that a woman needn't solely be confined to the singer/songwriter movement. Here are some of the rockin' women who paved the way for the ladies of punk to come.
