The LOX Essentials

The LOX Essentials

"The LOX were one of hip-hop's hardest groups in the late '90s and the aughts. Comprised of Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch, the group signed to Sean “Diddy” Combs' Bad Boy Records after fellow Yonkers rep Mary J. Blige passed the mogul their demo. They sparked a buzz by appearing on mixtape tracks with The Notorious B.I.G., his ‘Life After Death' album as well as Puff's 'It's All About the Benjamins (Remix)'. The group were Bad Boy's only hardcore act in the wake of Biggie's death. They released their gold-selling debut ‘Money, Power, Respect' in 1998, but left Bad Boy the following year—citing a displeasure with their artistic direction on the label. They signed to Ruff Ryders Entertainment and released the gold-certified ‘We Are the Streets' in 2000. Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch have since released several solo albums and frequently collaborate.”
