Before their popular soul-jazz hits, The Crusaders were one of hard bop's toughest swinging groups. Their rhythm section's bluesy muscle supplied the foundation for the lightning-quick “Young Rabbits”, and the band also boasted a pair of fiery soloists in Wayne Henderson, whose trombone dances like a bull across the nervy “Congolese Sermon”, and tenor saxophonist Wilton Felder, whose long, scraping notes cut through the funky “Ooga-Boo-Ga-Loo”.
