With songs that explode into a melodic tempest of distorted guitars and heavy backbeats, Brisbane metal outfit The Butterfly Effect was embraced by the indie scene from the moment they released their debut self-titled EP in 2001. Years of solid touring and strong support from alternative radio saw the band's popularity grow with each album release, until their third full-length, 2008's Final Conversation of Kings, debuted at No. 3 on the national charts. Soon afterwards, the band had a falling out with singer Clint Boge and undertook a national farewell tour in 2012, after which the remaining members began a new chapter with singer Paul Gallagher.
