German conductor and composer Sven Helbig has spent much of his career bridging classical and electronic music. In 1996 he co-founded the Dresden Symphony Orchestra to perform contemporary music, departing in 2007 to focus on compositional efforts. Helbig has seamlessly toggled between symphonic and electronic language; he's recorded many of his tuneful, delicate vignettes both orchestrally and, showing his pop sensibilities, in stripped-down electro-pop fashion as heard on pieces like “Autumn Song” and “Gone”. His “Tres Momentos” injects abstract electronic noise and beats beneath three gorgeously arranged, tempestuous orchestral movements.
