Sunnyboys Essentials

Sydney's Sunnyboys burst into the local New Wave scene of the early '80s like a fireworks show. Their razor-sharp riffs and angsty lyrics had a worldliness and sophistication that made the competition sound like they hadn't left the playground. Their 1981 self-titled debut album was an instant post-punk gem. Two more albums followed, but just as quickly as they rose, the band split by 1984, only playing a handful of reunion shows ever since. But those early Sunnyboys' power-pop highlights remain all-time Oz rock classics.
