Manchester has a deep love of house music that goes back decades. Mark Richards and James Eliot are as besotted as the original '80s wave of Mancunian ravers, and they created a northern powerhouse of deep, rumbling synths and perky disco beats for the 2010s. Having made their name as both DJs and producers, they came to wider public attention bringing a touch of classic rave to tracks by CamelPhat, Marshall Jefferson and Duke Dumont. Those remixes, plus a shared ear for a killer bassline, helped pave the way for their own gleefully addictive productions, such as the eternally joyous “XTC”.
