Seymour Stein formed Sire Records to license British albums for U.S. release, but by the mid-'70s, the label also signed bedrock American acts like the Ramones and The Flamin' Groovies. During the early new wave era, Sire kept that international outlook, releasing classic singles by The Undertones, Sham 69 and The Rezillos, not to mention Australian acts like Radio Birdman and The Saints.
