Named for cofounding siblings George and Amy, Sheppard ambushed the mainstream at home and abroad with 2014's "Geronimo", a giddy rush of indie-pop immediacy. That song's stirring dramatic arc was no fluke, and the Brisbane ensemble quickly built up a songbook placing widescreen production, layered arrangements and skyscraping melodies on equal footing. Gilded with a glossy EDM pulse and U2-style guitar reeling, 2018's "Coming Home" proved just as catchy as the band's breakthrough, even echoing its communal chorus. They have a particular talent for elevating what could be campfire sing-alongs to the level of stadiums, and prove it with the earnestly romantic "On My Way".
