The U.K. producer Paul Rose got his start producing dubstep, but a 2007 move to Berlin pushed the music he makes as Scuba toward techno. Where 2010's Triangulation pursued a third way between the two genres, 2012's Personality flirted with piano house and big-room club fare. He briefly made throbbing tech-house as SCB, but he folded all his inspirations together for 2015's Claustrophobia, a thrilling fusion of complex beats and lustrous sound design. His label Hotflush, home to Joy Orbison and Mount Kimbie, is just as groundbreaking.
