In November of 1968 the rock group The Turtles released an album that included a cut titled "I'm Chief Kamanawanalea (We're the Royal Macadamia Nuts)." The irresistibly funky drums underpinning the song were later used as the bedrock of hip-hop cuts for golden era artists like Stetsasonic, Beastie Boys and Big Daddy Kane—not to mention a certain crossover track from Marky Mark.
