This Yolngu band from Elcho Island has ties to indigenous music legends Yothu Yindi but bears a sound all its own. One moment fragile and folky, the next danceable and frenetic, The Saltwater Band began its recording career in 1999 and eventually earned an ARIA award, proving its music spoke to audiences outside the Northern Territory.
