Sally Whitwell once joked that when she did regular session work for Australia's national broadcaster the ABC, they'd immediately tap her if “they needed something slightly left-field.” Her ARIA award-winning 2011 debut album, Mad Rush, interpreted the work of Philip Glass, and you can hear how Whitwell adds her own verve to the playing, even increasing the tempos. Follow-up The Good, The Bad And The Awkward tackled film themes, including Amelie, The Hours and Twilight, while 2013's All Imperfect Things put her imprint on Michael Nyman's work, winning another ARIA for best classical album.
