Robert Wyatt Essentials
Robert Wyatt came to international attention as the drummer for Soft Machine in the '60s, lending his gorgeous falsetto and startlingly fast playing to their jazz/prog hybrid. After leaving the band, the Canterbury scene pioneer recorded a pair of records with his political pop group Matching Mole. Wyatt was then forced to rethink his approach to music after an unfortunate fall from a window left him paralysed from the waist down. Since then, he's turned towards a more elegiac pop style that embraced jazz, reggae, folk and experimental sounds. Wyatt announced his retirement from music in 2014.
