RÜFÜS DU SOL's Road Trip Selects

“Though it’s been a rough year for us all, we made this playlist to bring you joy on the road to somewhere special,” RÜFÜS DU SOL’s James Hunt told Apple Music in late 2020. While we weren't able to see the group performing over the summer, they created this playlist for summer road trips. “These are a selection of our favourite tunes as of November 2020,” he says. Below, read on for more about their top picks. Andrew Ashong, "Flowers" Hunt: "Figured we had to start this playlist with some good vibes and talk of changing seasons as we look toward 2021 and a new year for us all. This is such a gem of a song. It’s from a few years back, but we stumbled upon Andrew Ashong this year and so happy about it. Love this sound and the immediate positive mood his music is able to create." Sault, "I Just Want to Dance" Hunt: "Perhaps the greatest discovery of 2020 for us—Sault. An anonymous collective of musicians releasing powerful and moving albums one after the other. Floored by their output. This one though—it’s all in the title." Jayda G, "Both of Us" Hunt: "The pitch bend in this is so fun. Another feel-good number from earlier in 2020 that transports us to a dance floor somewhere in the future surrounded by smiling strangers." Township Rebellion, "Plastic World" Jon George: "We’ve been fans of these guys ever since watching their set at The Cloud installation at Burning Man. Everyone who we’ve spoken to who were there had their minds blown, same as us. This track is from an EP of theirs that we released on our label in October 2020." Colyn, "Concepts of Love" George: "Colyn’s usual standout production and emotional synths." Lastlings, "Out of Touch" George: "Proud of these two for this body of work."
