Rock unit Quruli melds guitars with sounds ranging from dance beats to brass. The Kyoto outfit came together in the mid-'90s and first attracted attention thanks to midtempo rock centred around the poetic and emotional lyrics of lead singer Shigeru Kishida. Their success pushed them to expand their sound, and they were soon varying the texture of their catalogue by adding an electronic kick to songs such as “World's End Supernova”. Quruli have always sought to bring in new elements, including explorations into horn-accented pop on cuts such as “Liberty & Gravity”.
