Plies Essentials

Algernod “Plies” Washington exploded out of Florida's fertile rap scene in 2007, releasing three major-label albums in the span of two years. His popularity was driven by singles that contrasted his raw, racy verses with sugary R&B hooks, like “Shawty”, featuring T-Pain, and “Bust It Baby, Pt. 2”, featuring Ne-Yo. But Plies could also stand on his own on frank, funny solo hits like “Becky”. And the Drumma Boy-produced “Plenty Money” gave him an ominous, hard-hitting club anthem that showed he could stand alongside street-rap icons like Jeezy and Rick Ross.
