Something For Kate Essentials

The world is a beautiful conundrum for Paul Dempsey. He chose music over more rational pursuits when he and Clint Hyndman formed Something for Kate in Melbourne in 1994, but his lyrics are tangled threads of scientific enquiry that elevate rock of mathematical precision. Bassist Stephanie Ashworth joined in 1998, after hit debut Elsewhere for 8 Minutes. As the century turned, steady refinement of thought and expression yielded platinum for Beautiful Sharks, Echolalia and The Official Fiction. Dempsey's stellar solo run filled a five-year gap before the wry paradox of an eighth album title, Leave Your Soul to Science, reignited the muscular/cerebral chemistry of a classic Oz rock anomaly.
