When he emerged in the late 2010s, Atlanta-raised producer Pi’erre Bourne’s bubbly, 8-bit-like productions sounded as if they were beamed in from outside the existing street-rap landscape—from a dimension where music hadn’t existed before Young Thug. Bourne’s beats for innovative hits by Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert and Young Nudy led to studio outings with Kanye West, Megan Thee Stallion and other rap royalty. In the 2020s, Bourne doubled down on both rhyming and producing, expanding his The Life Of Pi’erre mixtape series, jumping on tracks with his old friends Carti and Uzi, and building out the roster on his SossHouse label. His collaborations with signees Chavo and Jelly demonstrate the Bourne house sound in full effect.
