Pavement: Influences

Pavement: Influences

Pavement was the archetypal '90s indie band, but their influences were all over the map, reflecting the catchy chaos of styles that make up their brand of music. Early on, they were steeped in UK post-punk bands like The Fall and Wire and first-wave U.S. indie rock from R.E.M. and Sonic Youth. As time went by, they gravitated to UK folk rock group Fairport Convention and Krautrockers like Faust.
