Feelings run deep in the music of Japanese folk rock quintet OVERGROUND ACOUSTIC UNDERGROUND. Among the abandon of their barnstorming cuts there’s space for a slower pace, with more delicate arrangements and meditative lyricism. With that comes bolder percussion, as on the tumble of “Squall” and pulse-quickening “Pilgrimage”, and even hints of blues (“Ride Today”) and blue-eyed soul (“Ankaa”).
