Nada Essentials

Nada Malanima was just a teen in the late ’60s when she first graced the stage of Italy’s famous Sanremo Music Festival, but her expressive performances and granular voice showcased a maturity beyond her years. She followed up that success with a string of albums that evaded easy pop categorisation—dipping into new wave in the ’80s and finding new avenues of expression in rockier ’00s efforts, such as the self-penned L’amore è fortissimo, il corpo no. Alongside stellar indie collaborators, Nada explores love, fear and feminism, infusing contemporary Italian pop-rock with rare authenticity.
