Formed in Boston in 1979, Mission of Burma were short-lived but hugely influential post-punks. Their harsh guitar, erratic rhythms, angular bass, peculiar tape loops and impassioned vocals lingered over the alt-rock era, their legend cemented by the fact they released just one EP, one LP, and one live album before disbanding in '83 due to guitarist Roger Miller's worsening tinnitus. After a spate of reunion shows in 2002, the band reformed and summoned their old spirit, both on stage and on record, winning over old fans and converting new ones.
