The members of Mis-Teeq met in London in the late ‘90s, and the trio’s snappy, chart-friendly R&B soon positioned them as the UK’s answer to Destiny’s Child. They became chart mainstays in 2001 by infusing pop bangers with streetwise sounds, combining 2-step rhythms with irresistibly catchy vocal hooks on 2001’s “All I Want”, and injecting “Why?” with singer Alesha Dixon’s fiery dancehall raps. The slick, Stargate-produced “Scandalous” became a huge hit in 2003, and although the band split a couple of years later, Dixon has since become a TV star thanks to roles on Strictly Come Dancing and Britain’s Got Talent.
