Mika Vainio Essentials

Mika Vainio started his career in the ‘90s playing drums and electronics in various noise and industrial groups in his native Finland. He broke into the international scene as a member of Pan Sonic, the duo that helped bring minimalist techno to Europe's dance clubs. On his own, Vainio has wandered in a number of different directions. Albums recorded under his name have a seamy, dark quality that hews closer to early industrial, while, as Ø, he builds techno tracks in even sparser fashion than in Pan Sonic.
