Migos Essentials

At a time when hip-hop was mostly dominated by solo artists, the family trio calling themselves Migos burst out of Atlanta with three distinct voices and one of the most influential rap styles of the 2010s: the influential “Versace” triplet flow. Quavo's melodies on “Handsome and Wealthy”, his nephew Takeoff's raspy bark on the explosive “Fight Night” and first cousin once removed Offset's dexterous rapping on the intro helped turn their 2014 mixtape No Label II into a hit factory. Putting a new spin on gritty trap music with uproarious wordplay and bright, playful production from their mentor Zaytoven, Migos had no trouble making their chemistry compelling.
