Michael Mayer locked in his place in techno's history books when he co-founded the Kompakt label in 1998. Kompakt redefined European dance music by fusing bouncing techno grooves with trance's hypnotic bliss, disco's carefree flair and synth-pop's twinkling melodies. That mixture, plus a healthy dose of jacking house, has also defined his own marathon DJ sets, floor-filling productions and inventive remixes for everyone from techno artists like Audion and Gui Boratto to Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and Gotye, whom he reworked alongside Superpitcher in the duo, SuperMayer.
