Michael Brecker Essentials

Tenor saxophonist Michael Brecker's session work for rock and pop figures occasionally overshadowed his career as a jazz musician. After founding the fusion outfit Dreams in 1969, Brecker alternated between jazz material with Horace Silver, Billy Cobham and his sibling Randy in the Brecker Brothers, and sessions for James Taylor and others. The multiple GRAMMY®-winner made an assured debut as a jazz bandleader in 1987 and continued to innovate until illness cut short his ascent in 2007. His versatility remains a major influence on the new breed of tenor players.
