Matt Pond PA Essentials

With their idiosyncratic sound and hyper-articulate lyrics, Matt Pond PA is amongst the most musically diverse bands in indie rock. Founded in 1998, the band's early albums have a lush, brooding chamber pop sound that recalls the sweeping goth vibe of The Cure as much as the witty indie pop of The Magnetic Fields. Later albums would utilise orchestral arrangements while simultaneously drawing influence from folk and indie singers from Nick Drake to Neutral Milk Hotel. The prolific group released 10 albums between 1998 and 2013, exploring genres from alt-country to dream pop.
