Maria Bethânia: '80s

Caetano Veloso's baby sister entered the '80s a Brazilian superstar, and continued her momentum throughout the decade. Bethânia mixed bossa nova, samba and romantic balladry like a Barbra Streisand with one foot in Bahian culture. She continued to perform music written by Brazil's best songwriters (including her brother), in both intimate and grand settings.
