One of Berlin's mayors famously declared the city "poor but sexy" and the techno scene is exhibit A. The music you'll hear in underground clubs there is dark, austere and a little bit dangerous. It puts function before fashion but that stern disregard for more mainstream pleasures is all part of its appeal.
