Lost Boyz Essentials

The Lost Boyz burst out of South Jamaica, Queens in the mid-'90s with a series of infectious hip-hop anthems. Consisting of the lead emcee Mr. Cheeks, Pretty Lou, DJ Spigg Nice and the energised hype man Freaky Tah, the quartet dropped their debut LP in 1996. Titled Legal Drug Money, the project featured production by Pete Rock and Easy Mo Bee and was propelled by the party-starter "Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz and Benz". 1997's Love, Peace and Nappiness followed in a similar fashion—although Freaky Tah's murder in March of '99 overshadowed the release of a third LP later that year.
