Some of the bawdiest lyrics in reggae belong to Lady Saw, but there's a message to her frank approach to life, love and sexuality. She took on some of reggae's rudest male MCs, recording duets with Shabba Ranks, Beenie Man and Shaggy. By the time of 2007's Walk Out, she was matching the X-rated numbers with more serious lyrics about adoption and infertility. Her status as queen of dancehall was reinforced when JAŸ-Z referenced her signature tune, “Sycamore Tree”, on his legendary Black Album. Lady Saw's crossover even included guest spots on hits by No Doubt and Vitamin C.
