Keith Urban’s SPEED OF NOW Playlist

Keith Urban’s SPEED OF NOW Playlist

After dealing with the same delays as the rest of the world, country megastar Keith Urban devoted the second half of 2022 to finally touring his 2020 album THE SPEED OF NOW, Part 1. And like that more modern, pop-minded record, which includes cameos from P!nk and Nile Rodgers, Urban’s playlist for his stadium audiences has been downright diverse. Acts are far-flung as James Brown, Post Malone, Beyoncé and Lil Nas X contribute to the party-starting atmosphere right alongside Aussie acts like 5 Seconds of Summer and The Kid LAROI. “This playlist includes songs played before and after my set,” Urban tells Apple Music. “I’ve also included a few favourites in constant rotation during our downtime on the road.” With that pre- (and post-) gig spirit firmly in mind, jump right into this playlist and read on for Urban’s enthusiastic input on six of the tracks he chose.   Queen, “Bohemian Rhapsody” “This track does a few things: it sets the ‘musical liberation’ tone for the evening and it lets you know that ‘singing at the top of your lungs’ will be a HUGE part of the night’s magic. It also lets me know what kind of a crowd I’ll be walking out to. If I hear everyone roaring ‘BISMILLAH! NOOOOOO!!!! WE WILL NOT LET YOU GO (LET HIM GOOOOO!!!)’, we’re in for a helluva great ride.”   Taylor Swift, “Anti-Hero” “I love the honesty, the ‘so originally Taylor’ lyric flow and imagery, and absolutely love Jack’s palette, detailed rhythm and meticulous record-making.”   The 1975, “Happiness” “What can I say? I just love the spirit of The 1975.”   Post Malone & Doja Cat, “I Like You” “Immediately addictive, like a cronut.”   Ed Sheeran, “Bad Habits” “I spontaneously sang a snippet of this in our song ‘Kiss A Girl’ one night on tour—and it’s never left.”   Hifi Sean, “Testify” (feat. Crystal Waters) “This has been one of the first songs played through the PA after we’ve finished the show for a long time now. I chose it for the soul/gospel/dance/spiritually buoyant track that it is. I’d like that feeling to be one you leave with.”
