Los Angeles native Karyn White first made waves working with smooth jazz star Jeff Lorber, though she found even greater connectivity as a soulful, new jack swing-era solo star. Working with top producers L.A. Reid and Babyface, as well as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, she conquered the charts in the late-‘80s and early-‘90s, her sensual voice just as capable of commanding a ballad as directing the dance floor. The singer/songwriter even scored the elite honour of having legendary divas Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle and Dionne Warwick remake her material.
