Julie London was an American superstar who did it all. Music, film and TV were gracefully conquered over a career beginning in the mid-‘40s. During the ‘50s, her provocative album covers were controversial, causing consternation among the conservative spheres in the U.S., but the music on her more than 30 LPs has only become more revered as time has passed. London's velvety, sensual yet ingenuous voice makes a perfect companion to the jazz orchestration, and her treatment of American standards more than justifies the title of legend.
