Though he got his start with poppy folk-rock tunes by the likes of The Cyrkle, John Simon soon became one of the hippest producers of the late-'60s and '70s. Hits by Big Brother & The Holding Company, Simon & Garfunkel, Blood, Sweat & Tears and The Band made his name. But he also worked with lower-profile artists including Gordon Lightfoot, Michael Franks and John Hartford.
