Impulse Records: The '70s

Apple Music

Following the death of John Coltrane in '67, Impulse Records preserved his adventurous nature through a series of increasingly avant-garde LPs by his protégés and collaborators. These ranged from socially conscious recordings by Archie Shepp and complex experiments by Dewey Redman, to electric fusion, all of which served as a direct continuation of the jazz legend's spiritually driven music.
