As epic '80s sax solos go, it doesn't get much better than the one featured on Icehouse's biggest hit, "Electric Blue”. It's one of many touches—along with great hair, a slick wardrobe and soaring hooks—that made this band a favourite among '80s synth-pop fans. Essentially a project of frontman Iva Davies, Icehouse first formed in 1977 as Flowers, but soon changed both their name and style, evolving from a guitar-based pub-rock combo to New Wave stars with an international following. They were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2006.
