Ian Moss may not be the frontman of legendary Australian act Cold Chisel, but his presence has always loomed large. It's there via his expressive guitar work, whether going head-to-head with explosive singer Jimmy Barnes or adding restrained colour and texture to “When the War Is Over”, and in the moments when he assumes lead vocals, such as on “Bow River” and “Saturday Night”. In 1989 the Alice Springs-born Moss took Cold Chisel's hiatus as an opportunity to release his first solo album, Matchbook, which yielded two of the biggest hits of his career in the more pop-oriented, hook-fuelled rock of “Tucker's Daughter” and “Telephone Booth”. The album demonstrated more of an R&B and soul influence to his playing, while 2005's Six Strings displayed his acoustic prowess, as heard on “Love Will Carry Us Along”.
