Heavy '70s
Apple Music

Black Sabbath weren't the only heavy band of the '70s. From all around the globe, rock groups combined the psych sounds of the late-‘60s with blues-based power chugs to create a gnarly, earth-shaking sound that inspired heavy metal for years to come. Some acts, like Cactus, The Groundhogs and Dust, were signed to major labels, while many greats, like Iceland's Icecross, toiled in the underground.
