After getting into music as a left-leaning teen and attending the 1968 student protests that swept Italy, lauded singer-songwriter Francesco De Gregori found formative influence in Fabrizio De André, who soundtracked the revolution. He was also like a bee to honey to similarly astute US songwriters like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and John Prine.
