Family Tree: The Triffids

Led by the late David McComb, The Triffids chronicled a distinctly Australian desolation across five bewitching albums in the 1980s. McComb went on to form The Blackeyed Susans, who mined a similar slow-burn moodiness. Other Triffids' members later played with McComb's most prized contemporaries, lending inky atmosphere and painstaking subtlety to some of the country's best songwriters.
