Eluvium Essentials
As Eluvium, Matthew Cooper has mixed shoegaze elements, electronic drones and classical piano to establish himself as one of the most idiosyncratic indie-ambient artists of the 21st century. That's no easy feat considering the genre is rooted in subtlety, but Cooper has never been averse to stepping beyond boundaries. 2004's An Accidental Memory in the Case of Death showcased his solo piano chops, while 2010's Similes incorporated vocals and standard pop song structures, variations that complement and build upon the sweeping, often-majestic Eluvium sound.
